An enlarged image clearly shows the plants trichomes, these mushroom shaped droplets can cover most of the Cannabis flowers.
A trichome filled with Cannabinoids like THC.
THC, in its pure form, is a glassy solid when cold, and becomes viscous and sticky if warmed.
Where does the THC come from?
THC and other cannabinoids are produced in only one place on the cannabis plant, the heads of the trichomes.
These trichomes grow mostly on the flowering parts of a female cannabis plant, especially in absence of a male plant.
Why does Cannabis produce THC?
THC posesses high UV-B absorption properties, which protects the plant from harmful UV radiation exposure.
Other theories asume THC to be the plants natural defense system against herbivores, but as of now it is still unknown why Cannabis produces THC.
What effects do different strains have when consumed?
There are more than 70 Cannabinoids identified, and different strains hold different combinations of Cannabinoids creating a unique cannabinoid profile.
Our medicinal articles about different strains can give you a better understanding of psycho-active effects.
Are more resinous plants stronger?
Denser trichome production does not mean increased potency, because the resins inside the trichome may or may not contain high levels of THC and other active ingredients.
