Any darkened space will do.
Green light will not affect your drying plants as long as it is used for short periods.
Boxing your Cannabis plants will rehydrate them and slow the drying time for a few days.
Darkness is essential when drying your Cannabis plants.
Light induces photosynthesis which will keep your plants alive for many days after they have been harvested.
Similar to any other flower when bought from a florist, your plants will use the last remaining moisture within them to survive a little longer.
You should black out any window, or dry your plants in a closed space like a cupboard or even the grow room itself.
The only light they should see is that which you need to check up on them every now and then to see if they are dry.
Cannabis does not react much to green light, to prevent any light to disturb the drying process you can use a green light bulb when you visit your plants.
The time it takes to finish the drying period depends on the size of your plants, larger plants hold more moisture so need longer to dry.
Although the slower you dry your plants the better the taste and smoothness of the flowers when smoked.
When you have a good enviroment to dry your plants it should take between 1-3 weeks to proparly dry cannabis
You should check the moisture content a few times every day.
You can do this by carefully bending one of the smaller stems.
As long as they hold a lot of moisture they will bend easily, the stems will soon become tougher and eventually snap when you try to bend them.
When all stems snap your plants are ready.
Cannabis, when just dried, still contains a surprisingly large amount of moisture.
Rejuvinating or re-moistering your plants will allow you to add another few days to the drying period.
This will cost you more time, but the results are obvious.
You will improve the smell and taste of the buds, and improve the smoothness even more.
Timing is crucial when rejuvinating your Cannabis plants.
As soon as the smaller stems snap when bend you place the entire stems in a cardboard box.
Close the lids of the box and leave it for about 6-12 hours before taking them out and hanging them upside down to dry again.
While they were in the box the moisture has been trapped and re-absorbed by the plant ( and a little bit by the box ).
The following drying process is very short, bend the stems a bit more frequent untill they snap again like before, usually two-three days is all it takes to dry again.
You could repeat this process at least one more time, but I found that not necessary.
